On top of everything that is typical of an Epson InkJet printer, the EcoTank ET-3760 comes with the relatively new Supertank design from Epson. The Supertank functionality allows you cartridge-free ink refilling! Rather than constantly having to purchase expensive ink cartridges, you’ll be able to buy much the much larger ink bottles to refill your ink reservoir. Not only will this save you tons of money (1 cent per color ISO page versus 20 cents with ink cartridges), but you’ll also be saving the planet with significantly less wasted trash and plastic. Plus you’ll be able to get up to 2 years of replacement ink with Epson’s genuine ink replacement kit.

What is the Supertank and how does it work on the Epson EcoTank ET-3760
Throughout this review so far, we’ve been mentioning the Supertank on the ET-3760. But what is the Supertank, and why is it so freakin’ cool?
If you’re already familiar with the Supertank design, or you just don’t really care about the Supertank, then feel free to skip this section. Otherwise, check out why the Supertank is so cool before getting on with the rest of the Epson EcoTank ET-3760 review!
Why is it cool?
I’m sure everyone reading this is at least familiar with the basics of an InkJet printer. Ink cartridges are loaded into the printer, and are printed onto whatever paper you load in. Once you’ve exhausted the ink in your ink cartridges, you’ll have to replace them with a new set (or refill them if you have those refillable ink cartridges).
I’m also sure that everyone reading this is very familiar with the ridiculous prices that come with ink cartridges. When you purchase genuine cartridges from major distributors, like Epson, it’s not unheard of for the cartridges to be more expensive than the printer itself. That doesn’t really seem fair, now does it?
Typically, ink distributors do this to recoup the cost of selling the printer under margins. But, it also makes consumers feel like they are getting screwed over. And manufacturers are starting to catch on. Epson has recently been popularizing these Supertank printers.
Rather than using a traditional set of ink cartridges, the Supertank delivers ink directly to the printhead through the reservoir. So long as your reservoir is filled past the minimum level, you’ll be able to print! When you run out of ink, rather than buying another set of ink cartridges, all you’ll have to do is refill the reservoir.
Not only does this cutback on the cost of your printer, but it also can reduce the amount of waste plastic you have to throw away. Epson estimates that using their Supertank in the EcoTank ET-3760, you’ll have a cost of about 1￠ per color ISO page. When you are using the traditional cartridges, you’ll be expecting to pay about 20￠ per color ISO page! This is a saving of nearly 95%!
On top of this, you’ll save money by buying ink bottles as opposed to ink cartridges. Epson estimates that each replacement set of ink bottles will last for about 2 years (based upon a 200 pages printed per month usage)! From Epson’s website, you could save up to $620 with each replacement ink set!
On top of all of these savings, you’ll also be saving the planet! Ink cartridges are covered in non-biodegradable plastics. You won’t have to be constantly throwing away plastic with each replacement cartridge.
Since each set of replacement ink is roughly equivalent to 80 ink cartridges, you can feel better about your printer’s impact on the environment.
How does the Epson EcoTank ET-3760 perform?
We haven’t gone over the performance yet in the Epson EcoTank ET-3760 review. So how about we do that now. I’ll be focusing on this printer for sublimation specific, but the main difference between a typical sublimation printer and a typical InkJet printer is the type of ink used.
How easy is it to convert?
When you convert a typical InkJet printer to use sublimation ink, you normally have to completely replace the cartridges. If you get a conversion kit, you’ll have to fill your cartridges with your sublimation ink, making sure to not trap any air in the cartridges. It gets even more complicated when you decide to use a Continuous Ink Supply System (CISS). You’ll have to make sure the lines are properly filled, and make sure that the cartridges are getting filled properly.
With a Supertank printer, like the Epson EcoTank ET-3760, you won’t have to do any of this. I know, I know. If you’ve already converted an InkJet printer, you must be thinking to yourself, why the hell did I get this expensive conversion kit for my InkJet printer.
In order to convert a Supertank printer, all you have to do is fill the reservoir with your preferred dye-sublimation ink. Yep. It’s that simple.
Since the ink reservoir already functions very similarly to a Continuous Ink Supply System, all you have to do is make sure the reservoir is filled to the recommended level. You can keep on using your preferred sublimation ink, but you won’t have to get those refillable cartridges or CISS online. All you need is the sublimation ink.
How does it perform as a sublimation printer?
The EcoTank ET-3760 has a great quality and consistency with each print. It’s also easy to maintain and keep using for a very long time.
With a high quality 4800 x 1200 dpi, your prints will consistently come out with the quality you are looking for. This level of quality doesn’t just work with sublimation designs, but with any designs you want! The ET-3760’s support for border-less printing up to 8.5″ x 11″ also means you can use this printer for all of your photo printing needs.
There is one major limitation to the ET-3760 when it comes to printing. That’s its limited print size.
The One Limitation
I mentioned earlier in this review that is has a maximum print media size of 8.5″ x 47.2″, but this may be a little misleading. This maximum print size is with an optional attachment that allows you to feed larger paper rolls into this printer. Under it’s default configurations, the ET-3760 will support a maximum print size of 8.5″ x 14″.
If you are looking to print designs or photos that stay under this size limit, than you should never run into any major issues with your Epson. It’s high quality definitely justifies it’s purchase, so long as you are confident that you won’t need to print at sizes greater than 8.5″ x 14″. For anyone looking at this printer as a household printer, you’ll almost certainly never need to print at a size larger than 8.5″ x 14″.
However, if you are considering the EcoTank ET-3760 as a dedicated dye-sublimation printer, you may hit this wall during the lifetime of your business/hobby. If you ever want to print something that extends beyond this size, you won’t be able to.
This printer will work great if you want to print smaller designs on t-shirts or sweatshirts, that’ll be fine. But don’t expect to get into all-over printing with this printer.
